How to Install Windows 8 on MAC OS X using VMware Fusion
Macintosh OS, has always been a loved OS over a long time, beside MAC Windows was struggling heaps and bounds to attract more user, and finally have come up with a new styled Windows, Windows 8.Until its launch on Oct. 26 this year, there was a rumor Windows 8 is only a Touchscreen Boy, now those who said so, might have got have their answer already. And also now I have seen many Mac user are attracted too, saying why not to give it a chance, and a good way to install Win8 on Mac was to use VMware Fusion. If you are Mac user and Windows fan then you must have already tried Windows 7 via VMware Fusion.
I surfed through many forums and saw many of you Mac users were asking can I install Windows 8 from VMware Fusion, okey Windows 8 has different features and styles other than Windows 7, but don’t to forget they are brothers, dude.
And here I go, decided to make a how to, to describe you guys how to install Windows 8 on Mac OS X using VMware Fusion. And exciting part is Windows 8 runs much faster than Windows 7 here.
So let’s start with valid copy of Windows 8 and License Key, which you will need during installation. Hope, you have figured it out how to install VMware in your MAC already.
Here we go, launch Fusion and click on +’ or Add button on the top left –
Choose New…’ from the options given which pops up something like this –
Insert the Microsoft Windows 8 install DVD to SuperDrive, Fusion will automatically recognize Win8 install disk -
So, here I am installing Windows 8 64-bit, we will talk about why 64-bit in coming days, but you can use any, as I have latest configuration here, so I preferred 64 – bit. Fusion will work both 32 and 64 bit.
As it says, To get Started, Click Continue
It’s up-to you, to choose between “more seamless” and “more isolated”, what actually seamless do is you can easily access Mac documents from Windows 8 and vice-verse, and here is a chance to share viruses and malwares too, for this tut I choose “more isolated”.
Click on “Continue” again and you’ll be asked to enter your license key, specify a starting account and password, and other configuration settings that will automatically passed to the Win8 install process without further intervention. Finally enter license key and click continue.
Then Fusion will show a beautiful summary of what you have chosen.
You can change settings for virtual memory and RAM by clicking on Customizing Settings, which will pop up window like this.
To change the allocated disk size for the virtual machine, click on “Hard Disk” in the second row. Now you can use the slider to tweak it for your preferred setting –
You can drop disk size considering how much applications you will be running, and yes it can be changed later too.
If done you can close the window and start the actual installation process of Windows 8.
Simple as is, just double click the Windows 8 and Fusion will automatically start working on your virtual machine. I would prefer Black coffee now, what about you, cause it will take some minutes.
More important than coffee, during installation Windows 8 will teach you some tricks (say), to work out with, as you are not going to see a start button on the taskbar here, and as I said Win8 comes with a different style we may have never seen in other OS.
VMware Fusion will install some drivers after the installation in completed.
Finally, what would be more pleasing than the new boot screen of Windows 8.
So, now you can log-in to see more attractive features and don’t forget to comment if you liked Windows 8 or not.
Windows 8 is yours now, hope you find this how to’ tutorial helpful, and by the time also learned how to use features of VMware Fusion. They’ve done a great job with integration and the tools mean that you can re-size the window, modify RAM and disk settings (etc), and it all works smoothly with the new operating system.
Enjoy and appreciate us by leaving your valuable comments.
